HI, I'M SAUMYA
a graphic designer and an illustrator
I'm a final-year (already!?) design student at IIT Guwahati.
A few months into the course, being able to convey what I mean, without having to say anything, had started becoming an adrenaline rush. Adding to the rush was my habit of making lists, sublists, planners, calendars, and striking off the final ‘submit and party’ task on my checklist. (Monica much? I KNOW!)
Growing up, I had the privilege of being surrounded by a family of creatives, from artists and writers to actors. This provided me with exposure to try out props and backdrop design, scriptwriting, and even directing short plays. However, when I was left alone with a pencil, paper, and a few
colors, I was always the happiest.
My journey from a pencil to a stylus was fuelled by late nights stacking coffee cups and letting
the storyteller in me, inspire me to sketch them out. As for today, I love finding new ways to
express myself, from hair dyes (currently on my 7th hue) to tattoos, or even perfecting my pasta
recipe and feeding it to the ones I love.
So, if you find a girl with pink hair watching Friends, sipping cold coffee, as she works
into the night, don’t forget to say hi!
